The Art Cell is an independent cultural project led by artists (artist-run), which manifests itself in multiple permanent or temporary contemporary art spaces. The project was born from the desire to promote emerging art creators. Most of the exhibited artists are students, masters or recent graduates. The main criterion in the selection of projects is the courage, experiment, freshness and topicality of the topics addressed.

Until now, Celula has in its portfolio more than 190 organized or collaborative events, covering all artistic mediums: painting, graphics, sculpture, mixed media, installation, new media, performance, concerts, magazine launches.

A novel element that the Cell brought was the direct access to contemporary works of art, thus influencing the way of perception regarding the display of objects or artistic acts in front of the public.

With a 7-year presence on the art scene, Cell has grown, multiplying and surpassing its borders. Currently, the project exhibits contemporary art in 6 spaces: Carol 53 (Bd Carol I no. 53), Vertical Gallery, Pop Up Window (Kulterra Gallery), ARTSAFE, Permanent Salon (Bragadiru Palace) and Pod Theater (Casa de Cultura a Studentilor).
