Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery

Creative Space of the Current Era

Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery entered into cultural entrepreneurship in 2022 to support the creative sector and increase the value of Romanian artists in the local and international art market. The gallery aims to open new paths for those who deserve them, but so far have gone unnoticed, as well as for the established, through an exhibition program focused on contrasts, through a consistent dialogue between artists and art consumers, and through partnerships with actors from the art market, pursuing to cultivate the number of private and institutional collectors. Furthermore, the Gallery welcomes its public in Jean Louis Calderon 34, a building from the beginning of the 20th century, reinterpreted to bring together contemporary and modern art and events for the creative sectors.

”The Scemtovici & Benowitz Gallery is a creative space of the current era, with spearheads thrown into the future, a place for young creators and a good laboratory for observing what was created before and laid the foundations of what we are today. Amid the (dis)order of post-disciplinarity and of the eclecticism within art, in our (meta)gallery space dedicated to contemporary creation, we want to connect decency with boldness, to host artists who challenge truths, to open (new) paths for some unjustly forgotten in their studios, as well as for the established.” - Raluca Ilaria Demetrescu, curator and artist
