Alexandru Marinete Artist Statement

”From the moment I opened my eyes I saw stones. I have been sculpting since I was 8 years old. I had a great example in the back yard: my father. In my father's workshop I learned my trade.”

Alexandru Constantin Marinete was born in 1980, in Romania. The early artist perfected his talent through different courses but mainly studying at National Art Colleage ”Nicolae Tonita” and later at the National University of Arts in Bucharest, being licensed as Sculptor.

Nontheless, year by year he contemplated in his art works, memories from different continents he visited or where he had the pleasure to exhibit.

”Sculpture is not really appreciated in our country. I could very easily do something else and it would have been much easier for me, but for me it's all about the passion. I chose to make the sculpture and I can say that I am not sorry. Once you understand the stone, the marble, it's hard to stay away from it. Then, it is also the artist's duty to society to give him something beautiful, that pleases the eye and the soul.” With this frame, the artist exposed his wish to express sensorial perception when sculpting.

”I find myself in every piece of stone, to which I transfer sublime feelings. The elegance and hardness of my marble challenges me to discover its story.

I want my creations to captivate not only the eyes of a specialist but also the depth of the soul of a layman in art. I want to capture the lives and feelings of those who see my creations. The viewer can find himself in my works of art. Through the presence of my work, I wish to help people express their feelings.”

Therefore, the art of Alexandru is not only a financial investment, but also a sentimental one.

But, how much sensitivity can there be in a piece of stone? As much as the artist can express.

Nicola D'Arco

Born: May 14, 1975, Nola, Italy Graduated in 1994 from the Art Institute of Avellino, (IT) Department of Advertising GraphicsPhotography - "Since 2000 I started the first works on canvas using the mixed collage technique over which I intervened with oil painting. In 2003, I started experimenting with decollage technique, being attracted by the New Realism trend of the ʿ60s founded by several French and Italian artists, including Mimmo Rotella, Jacques Villeglé, from whom I learned the meaning of expressive language. I was attracted to this technique of tearing the poster as a sign of protest in society, and this way of exploring the poster, of destroying it comes from within my personality. Between 2003 and 2023 I participated in several personal and collective exhibitions where I exhibited works in which I explored themes of cinematography or advertising. I currently live in Bucharest where I continued this foray into the art of décollage, using retro or current posters, always seeking to capture in my works the vibrant energy that we find in images memorized in our memories or in images of the present."
