Mihai Negru (b. 1985) graduated from the National University of Arts Bucharest, Department of Graphic Arts. His practice diverges from the normative framework of contemporary art, adopting a critical stance toward convention and its systems of validation. He rediscovered the role of the artist through art therapy workshops for people with mental disorders, where artistic practice became a medium of expression, reflection, and transformation. The artist employs an experimental technique using black, white, and colored pens, as well as scratches, on unconventional materials. Influenced by the prison aesthetics of 1990s Moldova, his works combine mysticism with anarchist and Nietzschean ideas, exploring tensions surrounding gender and gender norms in a posthuman context.
